Remember the Fight — Liberal Blogrolling

Blogroll Amnesty Day

This Sunday, February 3, 2008 is the anniversary date of 2 important events — the Blogroll Amnesty Day and the liberal blogrolling policy here at Three Sticks.

Last year around this time I stumbled across an article by Jon Swift about how some of the more popular bloggers had choose to remake their blogrolls to include smaller, lesser known blogs. Unfortunately that wasn’t what happened. Many of these bloggers used Blogroll Amnesty Day as an opportunity to remove smaller, lesser known blogs parring their blogrolls down to the most popular blogs. This has the effect of creating an elite club of the most popular blogs recursively endorsing each other and reducing the chance of a smaller, lesser known blog from joining their elite ranks. We all know that traffic is often driven from referrals from other bloggers and that traffic is the life blood of a blog. It is traffic that transforms a blog from a personal labor of love into a meaningful place for community outreach.

In response to last years Blogroll Amnesty Day, I started a new blogrolling policy. The policy still stands. Simply send me an email and link to Three Sticks and I will add you to the Three Sticks blogroll.

This year Jon Swift and Skippy the bush kangaroo would like for everyone to remember Blogroll Amnesty Day and to adopt a new liberal blogrolling policy.

Here are a few sites that I know have a similar blogrolling policy:

  1. Mock, Paper, Scissors
  2. Classical Values
  3. Latino Politico
  4. The Barefoot Bum
  5. Three Wise Men
  6. NewsHog - Must be a small news site
  7. The Galloping Beaver

If you would like for your site to be added to this list drop me a message or add a comment in the following format:

It’s Been Awhile

Posted by Moses on Jan 28, 2008

It’s been a little while since I’ve written.   A lot has changed in the last few months. I got married. I moved. I’ve experienced some of the happiest times in my life.  It’s been fantastic.  There has also been some sadness and tragedy.  In this same period, I’ve have 1 friend and 1 family member die.

What does all of this mean for Three Sticks? First, it means that I’m back. I apologize for being out of the loop. I hope my explanation above is sufficient.  Second, it means that the site will go through some changes. You can already see some of that with the redesign.  I hope you all like it. I would love to get feedback. It should be faster than the previous version of the site.  Lastly, it means that there will be more articles that focus on hope as I’ve found more of myself in these past few months.

All in all, I’m excited and I’m looking forward to a new year of writing and sharing.
